Kids sometimes go missing, listen Makes me worry so They disappear like light that’s trapped Inside of a black hole They leave behind their pets to mind And papers yet to write They leave sports teams, unfinished dreams And moms that lie awake at night But everyone is missing if they don’t know where they are Throw away the map, come on and wander very far By bicycle or car Are you and I black holin’ it Or new among the stars Just for getting this far, miss, our luck is hanging in Check your constellations, patience wears a little thin 'Cuz all them missing carton children look so very sad Each of them envisioning a future that they could have had Or maybe just a bath But everyone is missing if they don’t know where they are Throw away the map, come on and wander very far By bicycle or car Are you and I black holin’ it Or new among the stars I need to know that you won’t go Let’s take it slow, by bicycle or car Are you and I black holin’ it or new among the stars I concede that stars are pretty, light is pretty old We can watch it sparkle though it used to glow So long ago Better them instead of us, burning up and out Life is spread ahead of us And just about To laugh aloud Kids sometimes go missing, listen I already know Maybe they’re go getters Better place they found to go 'Cuz everyone is missing if they Don’t know where they are Throw away the map, come on and wander very far By bicycle or car Are you and I black holin’ it or new among the stars

Who Cares? 01:52
I do not seem to give a shit About a single thing I do not care a whit, a hair, About the diamond in my new class ring I cannot see the point Of worry care or fret The worst is all in back of me Less’n it ain't happened yet [scary hell noises] You won't make nothin' of your life Too late, dad so sorry Never get old with an attitude like that young man So sorry dad, too late for me to give a damn Too late to go crazy Or to be a life long drunk Too late to be twenty something (oh no, never be) Then again, who cares about those punks? I don’t seem to mind Nothing to get me down Stompin’ all the daisies into the dirt 'Cause I’m up on top this ground You'd better plan your future out Too late, dad so sorry Never get old with an attitude like that young man Too late, so sorry Should have brought this up before Too late, so sorry Just don't care no more I might have been a suicide If I'd thought of this before Too late, so sorry Don’t seem to care no more

Let me tell you something of a serious nature I must inform you both that you're in terrible danger The zombie is a callow and nefarious creature Believe me I know something of their nomenclature I've studied in the works of Aristotle and Nietzsche From Plato to Lacan, they all have something to teach ya, I've come to one conclusion and I think you'll agree When zombies come to town you better get up and flee You better hop that bus, catch that train You don't have time to sit around and complain You better hop that bus, catch that train When the zombies come to town they're gonna eat your brain Plato understood the way that zombies behave He recommended that you run and hide in a cave Kierkegaard released his bowels and trembled in fear Every time he thought of the undead coming near Schopenhauer spoke of their formidable will Descartes declared: "It thinks, therefore it kills" And even Karl Marx had this to say: "Who cares if it's, an opiate, it's time to pray!" (chorus) Believe me when I say this town is under a curse & nothing you can you do will put into reverse They only stay inside the cemetery at first But things will very quickly go from bad into worse Soon you'll see them driving 'round the town in a hearse Their eyes sunken in and all their insides have burst They've got a single thought inside their heads, you see, Just how tasty your brains are gonna be (chorus) Better move those legs, haul that ass You don't wanna stick around for critical mass You have to understand that when you're dead you're in pain And there's only one thing that can make it wane And that's a mouthful of a living brain When zombies come to town they're gonna eat your brain

If you're never dangerous whaddaya get, whaddaya get? If you’re never dangerous, whaddaya get, whaddaya get? Whaddaya get? What do you get? You get hush hushed, set aside and sent along Nobody ever lets you get anything going on I got a thing to do, I got a real mission To elevate the true... and isn't That the way To light on up what's hidden Isn't that the way Not a safe condition, so listen (CHORUS) You get one safe safe safe place to be, I'd breathe The sweet sweet air and a sigh of relief And I need my blankie, over my head Dangerous, you're gonna end up dead (CHORUS)

I’m missing my boy wish he hadn’t had to go I’m missing my boy if I had him here we’d take it slow sit on the porch together hold hands and talk about some day when we’d be forever one another’s, that’s just the way I’m missing my boy gone on ahead of me missing my boy if he could hear I’d ask to be forgiven, hold his hand and make him know this time we’d both keep living then I’d never let him go I’m missing my boy, missing my boy if I had him here we’d take it so slow

Zombie King 02:39
He was a sensitive boy, he cried often His mother’s own pride and joy And did it soften him too much (too much too much too much too much) Who’s to say? He was so fragile and shy, he cried always He was such a sensitive guy He used to run out of harm’s way but now he’s passed away He can’t remember why. Now he’s the king of the dead set The lord of the cold and the grim Go on and praise his name to the heavens It’ll never matter to him Who’s so big a man he’s got you in the shade (He is: Zombie King) Who don’t know a thing about the being afraid? (He don’t: Zombie King) Who will never write to his mother and his father? (He won’t: Zombie King) Who could give a damn, but he doesn’t ever bother? (He don’t: Zombie King) He used to cry at the sight of a sunset He used to wince at a needle’s prick He used to care so much (So much So much So much So much) It makes me sick He used to write verses of poetry On the nature of death, gloom and pain But when you got the real thing who cares (who cares, who cares, who cares) It’s all the same Go on and tell him his dog died Tell him his girl said goodbye Tell him his mother was eaten by spiders He’ll never blink an eye Who’s such a man he’s got balls of steel? (He does: Zombie King) Who never fronts, always keeps it real? (He does: Zombie King) Who’s got a lump of coal instead of a heart? (He does: Zombie King) Whose pulse rate just dropped off the chart? (His did! Zombie King) Hey king nicky our hats are off you used to be just another pasty-faced goth now you’re the toast of the underworld all the zombie hotties wanna be your girl check out his new digs, see ‘em to believe ‘em he got a king sized mausoleum got a tombstone headboard, coffin for a bed everyone who sees him says Ayou’re better off dead so shake it, shake it, shake it, shake it, you’re the zombie king (x4)

In the hour of darkness In times of desperate need When hijackers are lurkin' And the hostages ain't freed Let a hero rise up, from some dusty unknown plain to make things right again I come bearing M16s and shotgun barrels double I come for the frightened ones when evil doers trouble There's just one thing about me That must be known I operate alone I operate alone I operate alone (He operates alone) I operate alone (He operates alone) I operate alone (He operates alone) I go solo, amigo

I was living here one time Sitting in a circle All the other kids were nice to sit and play I was passing telephone Calling operator Won't you tell me what am I supposed to say Gimme one reason I should stick up for you Turn your back on me I could sit with you forever, never Quite be rid of me I could be birthed and buried here Many years of peace Wishing for somebody to be here in you with me I was living here that time Surely you remember Seemed you saw me spinning closer than before Memorizing my address Your name under mine there Ever since I came around, not any more Used to live this town up You know I did Shed to barn to roof Some believers in the simple life Are never met with proof But I wonder Town, you know I do Why you couldn't see I was wishing for somebody to be here in you with me Used to live this town up But not anymore

When Adam and Eve left the garden for good They knew that it was all too well understood And though it was Adam who named all the birds He never said a single word ‘Cause I don't want to talk about what we already know It'd be easier if we let it go And just played dumb And silence is the only thing that I have left to give Its our only sedative So let's stay numb I used to think I could solve all with a word (it seemed such a simple equation) But now I can see that the chalkboard is blurred (once spoken, all things would be equal) The pluses and minuses run in a ring (a circle is perfect, unending) until you say goodbye (And infinity's a made up thing) Cause I don't want to try and do the verbal calculus To figure out the root of us Make words the sum So close your ears you can't hear when they are Stuffed with cotton ‘Cause you know one and one is nothing Without one Now you take the low road and I’ll take the high as long as we don’t say goodbye Now you take the ocean, and I’ll take the sky as long as we don’t say goodbye

I used to watch the satellites go by Wondered if they saw me, watching from the sky But I gave up waiting for a sign up in the dome Don't need a compass or a map to guide me home 'Cause everyone is missing, if they don't know where they are Throw away the map, come on and wander very far Everyone is missing, if they don't know where they are Kids sometimes go missing Sometimes they are found Right where you left them standing on the ground But one thing's for certain, if you're ever losing track I'll come out to find you, and make sure you're coming back ‘Cause everyone is missing, if they don't know where they are Throw away the map, come on and wander very far Everyone is missing if they don't know where they are Come on, and wander far Everyone is missing, if they don't know where they are Throw away the map, come on and wander very far Everyone is missing, if they don't know where they are Throw away the map, come on and wander very far By bicycle or car Are you and I black holin' it or new among the stars

about

Young Zombies In Love was first produced in 2001 in San Francisco, later moving to various stages including the New York Fringe Festival in 2004 where it won the Fringe's Excellence Award for Songwriting.

This is not an original cast recording, but rather an album project featuring a crack team of ERP all-stars. Please don't feel terribly confused if it seems like the characters and vocalists aren't matching up from song to song.

Several selections from earlier ERP shows are included after the eleven YZIL tracks, because CDs used to be a thing, and bonus tracks used to be a thing on CDs.
